Meet The Doctor
Dr. Adams cares deeply about her community and founded The Med Spa of New Smyrna Beach in 2013 to provide a safe and ethical environment for aesthetic treatments in the area. She has had advanced training in Aesthetic Medicine and provides non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatments through the use of medical cosmeceuticals, neuromodulators and laser technology. What started as a side gig in the back of her husband’s dental office, soon became New Smyrna Beach’s first medical spa and since has won awards for “Best of the Best Med Spa” in the Daytona Beach News Journal in 2022 and Hometown News “Reader’s Choice” in 2021 as well as becoming a Top 2% Allergan injectable provider in the nation.
Motivated by improving the lives of others, this ER doctor turned aesthetic medicine expert knows that her staff is her “superpower” and attributes much of the practice’s success and growth to her dedicated team. Her mission is to provide the most exclusive, science-driven treatments by a team of highly trained and compassionate individuals who will be a shining light for each other and those patients seeking results and confidence.
Dr Adams was inspired to go medical school by her late father, who was a volunteer paramedic in rural Michigan where she was born and raised. As a senior in high school, she was one of 10 students in the nation accepted early into medical school at Michigan State University where she graduated with a BS in Nutritional Sciences as well as earning her MD. She completed her residency at Palmetto Health in Columbia, SC and is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. In 2002, she met and soon married NSB native, Dr Ben Adams DDS, and they chose to come back to this quiet little beach town to serve the community where they live with their 3 children surrounded by amazing friends and family. After 15 years of service, Dr Adams officially retired from the Emergency Department in March of 2022 somewhat “due to Covid” but mostly to dedicate all of her time to her family as well as The Med Spa and advancing her skillset as a laser physician.

Why did Dr Adams start Get Fit NSB?
As an ER doctor, she has had a front row seat so to speak as to the dangerous and oftentimes fatal consequences of a poor diet and unhealthy lifestyle which is why she is now offering weight loss services at The Med Spa utilizing both of her degrees in Medicine and Nutrition in order to empower people to live their best, healthiest life. Health and wellness has alway been a priority for Dr Adams. In high school, she was a 4 sport athlete earning many achievements in athletics and academics. In college, she served as a nutritional counselor to the HIV/AIDS population at an inner city Lansing clinic. She was also involved in many research projects at MSU in the dietetics and nutritional science lab under the direction of Dr Lorraine Weatherspoon. Her research was focused on diabetes in children as well as the effects of certain “hunger” hormones on rats.
Although oftentimes challenging and stressful, serving this community in the ER for the last 12 years has been extremely rewarding and some of the proudest moments of her life. She has taken care of thousands of patients and families on some of the worst days of their lives. She may have lost some sleep, missed some ballgames and holidays with her kids but has no regrets and is blessed to be able to take on this new medical weight loss venture to help others optimize their own health so they can avoid the Emergency Department!
Meet The Team
Cari is a true Floridian, born and raised in New Smyrna Beach. She joined the U.S Army at the young age of 18 and began her career of caring for others in the Veterinary field. After 4 ½ years stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, HI she chose to remain in the medical field and moved into the operating room as a surgical technician where she excelled on the Orthopedic team at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. Nearly 7 years working in the medical field and her love for skincare inspired her to become a medical aesthetician and she continues to strive for excellence with every treatment she performs and every person that she treats or trains. Cari played an instrumental role in the formation of The Med Spa of New Smyrna Beach with Dr Adams in 2013 and has been a vital part of the success and growth of the practice.
Cari’s superpower is multitasking! She is not only the pulse of The Med Spa, but she is an amazing mother of 3, loving wife, daughter, sister, friend and barrel racing queen. You will find Cari most nights and weekends at the horse barn with her daughters or on the football and soccer fields!
Finding the perfect balance as lead aesthetician and the Spa Manager, Cari’s expertise includes extensive training and certifications in medical grade chemical peels, RF Microneedling, Hydrafacial, Skinpen, PRP, Diamond Glow, Viora Radio Frequency Skin Tightening & Body Contouring, and an in-depth knowledge of products & ingredients to improve skin quality and complexion. For anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting our laser specialist, Catie, you know that she is a ray of sunshine and has a smile that lights up the room. Catie was born, raised and has lived in New Smyrna Beach most of her life. She has a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Central Florida and studied fashion design in London for a short period of time. After graduation, she found she had a great interest in aesthetics so she decided to focus all her energy on her real passion, laser aesthetics and has been performing laser treatments at The Med Spa since 2013. Catie is an “OG” at The Med Spa which originally was called “Smyrna Skin Spa” and was located inside of her brother’s dental office. She is highly knowledgeable in laser technology and is passionate about giving clients effective, efficient and safe results. She makes you feel comfortable immediately in the treatment room and walks you through every step of the process.
In addition to working at The Med Spa, Catie and her husband Peter own The Galley, which is a gourmet olive oil and balsamic store on Canal Street. Kristie is from Louisiana and is a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, wife and loving mother of two. She became a health coach to fulfill her desire to work with individuals to improve their own health as well as the lives of their families. Wellness is now such a big part of her own life as she found herself facing many obstacles and health struggles all at once. She started eating right, working out, and using other holistic approaches to get her life back on track. It has since then become her life’s passion and goal to help anyone and everyone who has felt stuck in their own health journey.
She received her training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she received in-depth training in nutrition, health and wellness, and coaching skills. She has been a health analyst for multiple companies, lead workshops on nutrition, spoke at conferences, and gave individual health and nutrition coaching to many all over the world. Her goal is to continue to help change lives so that everyone can be their best self. Kelly is our Laser and Medical Assistant. She is a qualified professional with decades of experience in various facets of the medical field. She has a degree in Nuclear Medicine with a specialty in Cardiology. She worked as an Emergency Department technician at Advent Health New Smyrna Beach where she had the pleasure of working with Dr. Adams. Prior to that she spent years working in the dental field, receiving her certificate of Dental Radiology from the University of Florida. In addition to her medical background Kelly worked as a bartender for 16 years at a famous local restaurant called The Garlic.
Kelly is a Florida native and has lived in NSB the past 20 years. She loves the small town vibe where everyone looks out for each other. She has two little girls, Kennedy and Callaway. In her spare time she enjoys going on adventures with her family, event planning, and curating custom charcuterie. Nicknamed the “Charcuterie Queen.”

Becky is a 10th generation native Floridian with deep roots in the state. Her family settled west of St. Augustine during the Revolutionary War, and she takes pride in her heritage. Adding to the family legacy, her grandfather holds the distinction of being the first farmer to successfully grow honeydew in Florida.
Throughout the years, Becky and her husband have established and managed three thriving local businesses. Their entrepreneurial spirit and hard work have contributed to their success in the community.
Being a dedicated mother of four incredible children, Becky cherishes her special bond with each one of them. Family is important to her, and she treasures spending quality time with her loved ones.
Animals hold a special place in Becky's heart, and she is the proud owner of four dogs. Her compassion for animals is evident in her devotion to their care and well-being.

Amy was born and raised in NSB and her family has been in this area for an astonishing 5 generations! She married her high school sweetheart and together they have 4 fun and wild children that keep them on their toes with another one on the way due March 2023. She received her Master’s Degree from Chamberlain College of Nursing and is a Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Registered Nursing (RN) degree from Daytona Beach Community College, now Daytona State College. She worked as a RN for the last 16 years in the ICU and Interventional Radiology at Advent Health New Smyrna where she originally met Dr Adams. She has been with The Med Spa since 2022 and is also a recipient of the Hydrafacial Connect Masters scholarship valued at $2000 which is an exclusive, advanced training that only the top Hydrafacialists in the country have received. Nicole is originally from West Palm Beach and moved to New Smyrna Beach with her mom, older brother, and sister over ten years ago. She has her A.A. in Psychology at Daytona State College. She is an active volunteer in her community, cleaning up the beach, helping organize non-profit events and assisting autistic kids play baseball with The Miracle League of Volusia County. Helping those around her not only makes her feel more fulfilled but allows her to be more connected with her community.
She has been into fitness and promotional modeling for the last ten years which has made her passionate about skincare and nutrition for herself and others. “Looking your best makes you feel your best” she states. Missy is a rare find, a native Floridian! She grew up in Lakeland and as a young adult she moved to Orlando to pursue an education and career. While living in Orlando her favorite place to relax has always been the beach... Eventually, she could no longer resist that feeling of calmness you get when you drive over the bridge and see the ocean... so, this year Missy relocated from Orlando, "the happiest place on earth", to her happy place, the NSB area!

A free Spirit from the deserts of Arizona, Alex moved to NSB in 2016. In addition to working full time at The Med Spa, she also works part time as the town’s “Professional Nanny”, specifically helping out Dr. Adams with her three children who absolutely adore her. Alex is finishing up her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science at UCF. GO KNIGHTS! In her free time, you can find her volunteering at the Marine Discovery Center, diving or captaining her Dad’s boat any chance she gets. She is a dog/chicken mama and loves to grow her own fruits and veggies in her backyard. She enjoys photography on the side and traveling to new places with her boyfriend, Cody. She has always had a love for the ocean and her favorite thing about NSB is the small town/beach town feel and the amazing community that comes along with it.

Angela is a lifelong resident of NSB, along with her family’s many generations. She has been married for 20 years and has two boys who love surfing and playing soccer in their free time. What she loves most about NSB is the beach, sunshine, and small-town vibes that keep her close to all her family and friends.

While Jen is not a native of NSB, she has been a part of this community since the late 1980’s. She is one of our Licensed Medical Estheticians as well as lead medical assistant to our master injector, Ashley. After graduating from UCF in 1997 with a BA in Radio/TV Communications and working in her field for a few years, she decided to change gears and became a licensed Esthetician in 2003. She has worked behind the chair and on the business side of the industry ever since. She is trained in multiple product lines including SkinMedica, Glo, Glytone, Dermalogica and PCA. She is a recipient of the Hydrafacial Connect Masters scholarship valued at $2000 which is an exclusive, advanced training that only the top Hydrafacialists in the country have received. She also has had extensive training on skincare treatments such as Diamond Glow, Dermaplaning, Medical Grade Chemical Peels, SkinPen Microneedling and VIORA Skin Tightening and Body Contouring.
Jen truly wants to help clients become the best version of themselves in all ways possible and loves that she is able to serve the NSB community! Teri Ann grew up in Minot, North Dakota, with her parents and twin older brothers spending most of her time watching or participating in sporting activities. In high school, she excelled in gymnastics and was recruited by the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND as a diver on the Swimming and Diving team. After finishing a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Education in 2002, Teri Ann moved to Los Angeles and spent the next 14 years in the fitness industry.
She is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and also gained a special certification to teach Yoga in Byron Bay, Australia. She has taught spin, yoga, HIIT, and step aerobics. She also starred in an exercise video called Crunch’s Belly, Butt & Thighs Boot Camp, multiple Exercise TV episodes, and participated in the background of several other fitness videos (Step 360, Total Body Cardio). In addition, she and Tanja Djelevic created a workout video called “Total Body System, TNT.” In LA, she also began working for Celebrity Trainer Harley Pasternak, and she trained and toured with many actors and celebrities. Tours with Maroon 5 and Lady Gaga took her around the world. Jessica Simpson, Megan Fox, and Kesha are three more examples of celebrity training which broadened her fitness experience immensely.
New Smyrna Beach is incredibly lucky to have Teri Ann as a personal trainer serving our community. She is a master at her craft and has changed so many of our clients’ lives here at The Med Spa through the Wellness and Medical Weight Loss Program.
Teri Ann lives here with her husband, Jamieson, an NSB native, and her two little boys. She owns a boutique exercise studio in New Smryna Beach called “Good Vibes Spin & Circuit” which offers personal training and daily classes consisting of a circuit workout with a spinning component.
Knowing that fitness is a crucial part of a healthy body, she strives to offer individualized workout plans to her clients regardless of fitness level to help them achieve their health and wellness goals.
Amy is a multigenerational NSB local. She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Nathan, for 25 years. They have 3 children, all in their teens and 20’s. She graduated from NSB high school in the 90’s and completed her Associates of arts degree from Daytona State College immediately after. Amy was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom for many years. She returned to work at a primary care office, where she spent 12 years at the front desk.
Amy and her family enjoy traveling. They love to spend time in the mountains, where Amy usually drags her family to as many waterfalls as she can find. They also enjoy visiting National Parks.
She loves the NSB area because it’s a great place to raise a family and is grateful to have a huge extended family in the area.

Jen is a very talented injector coming to us from Hilton Head and we welcome her warmly to New Smyrna Beach. Originally from Florida, she has relocated to here to be closer to her family. She has spent her entire 25 year career in aesthetics, dedicating her life to helping her patients achieve the the most natural and balanced outcomes. Transforming lives by helping her clients feel confident in their life pursuits and look their personal best is her passion. She began her career in the DC metro area in 1999 allowing her to be present at the dawn of non-surgical aesthetic medicine. Over the past two and a half decades she has studied and trained tirelessly, and continues to do so, to ensure delivery of the latest and most safe techniques. She has been committed to staying up-to-date with her training and specifically with her injection skills for the last 10 years.
